Owner left with $20,000 vet bill refuses to let dog die, raises money to save her life

When it comes to saving a pet’s life, most pet owners don’t think twice, even if the vet bills are steep. There was a man recently facing a huge vet bill of $20,000 to save his beloved dog. But fortunately, a miracle occurred instead. Rambo, a 2-year-old Weimaraner owned by Jaxon Feeley in Wigan, England, became seriously ill last month, which was every dog owner’s nightmare. During the night she vomited more than 30 times, which was followed by an emergency vet visit on Saturday morning. Rambo had gone into hypovolemic shock in addition to gastroenteritis. Even though her condition stabilized after several days in intensive care, her medical bills quickly piled up.

“Rambo’s insurance has covered her up to £6500. The cost of her intensive care is approximately £1000 per day. It is unknown how long Rambo will need to be at the vets. “After one week in care, the bill has reached £11,500,” Feeley wrote.

I need to be able to cover the cost of major surgery and aftercare if the worst happens and Rambo has to undergo such surgery.” While the cost is astronomical, Feeley said he would sell his home to make sure his beloved pet receives the care she needs.“This gorgeous girl was never going to be left behind. She is just a baby, and wants to live and be happy with her big brother Rocky and the Feeley family,” the owner wrote. The kindness of strangers saved him from having to do so. He created a GoFundMe account, explaining Rambo’s story, and many people donated. Feeley’s fundraiser raised more than double the original goal: at the time of this writing, over £25,000 had been raised.

He wrote in his February 4 update that Rambo’s condition had continued to improve and that she would eventually be able to come home. The last three days have been a miracle for Rambo; her oxygen efficiency has increased hour by hour, she has begun to eat and drink, her lungs are gradually improving, and her beautiful little personality has begun to emerge. She even knew where to find me in the waiting room when she saw me for 10 minutes every 4 hours.

Thanks to the kind donation of strangers, Feeley and Rambo are now home together, and they can afford to care for him if he has any medical needs. He wrote: “I cannot express how grateful I am for everyone’s love, support, and contributions over the last two weeks. I really can’t express how much it means to me.”

There is no doubt that people will go to any lengths to save their pets, which is why the determination this owner showed in keeping his dog alive was inspiring.
